Calling all teachers! The Society for Neuroscience, a nonprofit organization of 38,000 researchers has invested in our future Scientists. This association has developed a website called NERVE (Neuroscience Education Resources Virtual Encycloportal) in order to enhance education in neuroscience. This website has organized neuroscience educational information by subject, grade-level, and format through a series of drop-down menus, making it incredibly simple, straight-forward, and user-friendly to find the perfect tools for keeping class interesting. NERVE is aimed at grades K-12 and includes formats such as games, curriculum material, animations, simulations, journal articles, songs, and so much more.
This website provides information and materials that will make a teacher feel like they have a Neuroscientist in the classroom and is sure to capture the interest of all students. What I love most about this resource is that it encompasses all modes of learning, leaving no student behind in terms of the visual, auditory, or interactive learner. The brain is one of the most amazing and intricate parts of the body, making it important that it is understood inside and out. With a vast amount of research in neuroscience occurring in Massachusetts it is necessary that we enable students to feel confident in such subject matter, making it fun, interesting, and most importantly, attainable.
