You may be wondering why this blog started. Well, here at the Massachusetts Academy of Sciences, we feel that teachers should have some guidelines on how to start a mentoring program of their own. There are resources out there for students about how to start a research project, but not much is out there for teachers.
This blog will be the basis of a book about how to start a mentoring program. It will follow the Engage Everett! program and provide insight about all that is developing. Not everything in the program runs smoothly, as you will read in some of the blogs, but hopefully others will learn from our experiences.
There are many administrative steps that go into starting a mentoring program and this blog will show others how those steps have unfolded and evolved. Maybe you have an idea that you think would work well in a mentoring program-tell us about it and we could try it out and let you know the results!
