Spider Climbing

VacuumAssistedClimbingWhile browsing the internet, I came across the coolest new gadget. After watching Spiderman while growing up, all I wanted to do was be able to scale walls easily. Well now engineers have designed a system for the United States Air Force that allows soldiers to easily scale walls. So how does it work?

The device is called the Personal Vacuum System Climber. So as you can infer, it uses vacuum powered suction to grab onto the walls. The climber wears a large vacuum backpack, suction gloves, and ropes around their legs to climb . He then places the suction glove onto the wall and grabs hold of it completely. Imagine the suction on your vacuum at home being able to hold 200 pounds up in the air. This is how strong the vacuum is. Because of the vacuum forces, the machine is still very loud. I wish I had one of these when I was a kid! Check out a few photographs and a video below of the personal vacuum system climber and comment on how you would use it.
